Fini Friday! Plots and Plans!

Hello Hello! Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week has been filled with fun and adventure!
I've a few new ideas to show you in this post as well as a tad bit of news!
First! The plots and plans!
This is a necklace creation that I'm still developing. I like some of the chain options more than others...but I'm still not quite certain how this will play out! The gorgeous pendant in the center, by the way, is faceted smoky quartz and sterling silver! This might end up being a multi-layered chain necklace....or I might keep the design simple so as to show off that beautiful stone!
Stay tuned!

This second photo is a collection of beads and ideas for some spooky-fun Halloween creations!  I don't normally gravitate towards skulls and I'm very selective about those I do play with.  These are stylized and have much potential with their simple design!  Did you spy the owl and moons?  There is a cat sitting quietly in the centre and other mysteriously cool beads scattered hither and yon!
You'll have to stop by for a visit again to see what happens next!
Whee!!
A
And now!  The News!
There is a second session in the Welcome to Being Human series on BlogTalk Radio!
Sunday, Oct. 27th at 5pm (CST, USA) Cheryl Patton and I will be chatting about often impossible pedestal we humans (especially those in the healing arts) are placed on and the stifling effects of "always staying positive".
Who put us up there anyway?
Join us for insight, laughter and fun as we poke at the foiables and follies of life as Human Beans!

Whimsy Wednesday! New Inspiration!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!

This is a bit of Magical Monday, a bit of Whimsy Wednesday and a lot of an artist's life!
I've photos of what I've named my Faerie Friday (which you can read more about here) and I'll share those soon!!

There has been much travel, time spent in the woods and cultivating of ideas in around here lately!  It is good and I look forward to sharing those insights and creations in their time.

This post is about sharing some of the treasures collected on Walkabout this weekend.
Here we see a few lengths of different chain as well as gorgeous pendants!  I've used the black leaf/feather chain before and really enjoy the look it imparts to specific creations!  It was time to play with more of it!  The bar-style chain is unusual and more difficult to find, so homeward-bound it came with me!  I love to experiment with the uncommon and this chain is no exception!
Dragonflies seem to have captured the imagination of the folks around me (as well as mine) lately and I had to bring this beautiful one home!  The lovely heart pendants whispered ideas to me even as I was procuring them!  That is one of my more favorite moments of an artist's life!

These are a small collection of stone and glass animals and a singular glass shape.  The sparkly black bead at the top of the photo is that unique thing.  I'm not certain if it was meant to be an owl...or a PacMan Ghost or ...?  I love Goldstone (which is a man-made glass) for its luster and this was so strange I had to create with it!!  Can you spy the Elephant, Lion, Cat and Dragonflies?  Dragonflies were a minor theme on this Walkabout and these nifty stone and Goldstone examples were cute enough to bring back to the studio!
The electric blue cat is carved in a curled ball and is reminiscent of a blue moon.  There is a story and a creation wrapped up in that!  And who could resist the majesty of a lion and elephant! YAY!
There may be new creations with some of these materials at the Saint Paul Art Crawl....just sayin'!
Stay tuned for more details!

Speaking of that Art Crawl...I've an update!!!
I'll be on the 3rd Floor Atrium, rather than the previously-mentioned 4th, so do look for me there!!!
And now.. the details!!!
The Saint Paul Art Crawl Friday, Oct. 4th through Sunday Oct 6th!  3rd Floor Atrium of the Lowertown Lofts Artist Co-op!
We're doing a new thing this Art Crawl!!
Myself and other Artists throughout the Crawl are creating and hiding one piece of FREE art somewhere in the downtown St. Paul area!
I'll use Twitter (sc_amysprite) to give clues as to where to find the Art as the Crawl commences!
SO EXCITING!!!!
Hope to see you soon!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! A Rosy Life!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope this week (so far) has not been too arduous and that you have many fun things planned for your weekend!
I'm pleased to have two new creations to show you today that grew out of materials that have been languishing far too long (in true Fini Friday fashion!)!
Let's start with the earring creation first!
Working Title: Tree of Life
Ingredients: Bone and wood, Czech glass, lead-free pewter (USA), metal, surgical steel earwires.
The focal pieces of these earrings are bone and wood cunningly fashioned into a tree of life design! I love mixing metals and had fun mixing the shiny silver with a bit of warm copper, mirroring the contrast of bone white (HA!) and dark wood! The Czech glass accent bead is a beautiful combination of shimmering metallic-matte and clear copper! I also love throwing in many different textures into what seems, at first glance, to be a clean and uncomplicated palette! WHEE!!!! The Tree of Life focals have been with me since last Fall and this is the first creation that's grown out of them!

This next creation grew out of materials that have been lounging about for more than a few years now!
Let me show you!
Working Title: The Rose Garden
Ingredients: hand-carved Jasper rose, Rose Gold-plated brass chain, hand-made brass clasp (Thailand), wood, metal, Jeweler's Bronze.
I brought the hand-carved Jasper rose home many years ago.  I selected it because of it's beautiful shape as well as the small streak of yellow at the bottom of the rose!  The chain is has a hefty elegance to it.  It is brass over-layed with Rose Gold.  If you look closely, you can see that there are vines in raised relief twining all along the links of the chain!  I adore creating with fabulous little details such as that!

Here is a view of that same necklace on dress-maker's dummy!

So that's it for this Fini Friday!
Before I go, I'll mention my first show of 2013!
Burst Into Spring!
It is in Cambridge, MN, USA and details are here
It would be grand to see you there!
In the meantime, I'll see you Monday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Dangly Chain!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!!
I've new earring creations to show you, inspired by some of the fabulous jewelry I noticed on folks who attended the Saint Paul Art Crawl this past weekend! I was mesmerized by much of the long chain necklaces and earrings that winked at me from the necks and ears of those wandering by and decided to create with that in mind!
First, though, let me show you a few photos of my booth at the Art Crawl! We were given a beautiful spot between two lovely pillars in the Third Floor Atrium and it was just perfect for us!
Take a peek!
Isn't that a gorgeous space for our bonnie booth?
This next booth photo includes me in full Faerie-ness!
Many thanks to the excellent folks at the Lowertown Lofts for lending their attractive surroundings to us for the weekend!
Also! Many, many thanks for all of those who came out to visit us and the Crawl! It was a very successful show!
YAY!
On to the shinies!
This first pair of earrings is all about vibrant Cobalt and shimmery Silver!
Title: Wandering the Moonlight Forest
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals(cobalt), Czech glass, metal, surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
I love the air of mystery and magic about these!
This last pair of earrings has the most obvious influence of the multitude of chain jewelry I mentioned spying this weekend...
Title: Unchaining the Four Seasons
Ingredients:Czech glass, copper, metal, gold-plated surgical steel earwires(hypo-allergenic)
These two earring creations are up on my Etsy shoppe now for your shopping pleasure!
And there we are!
All done with another Whimsy Wednesday post!
I'll see you on Friday!!! I've some exciting things to show you!!!!
Whee!!!
Ciao!
