Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
This has been a busy week and I've missed posting nifty things for all of you!
I've much to share with you!
Shiny things first and then the news!

I've been wanting to create felt ornaments for quite some time and this bunch of Winter Holiday celebrations seemed the right time for hand-made (and heart-felt) gifts!
This double-sided heart is my first one!

 Sparkly side first, of course!  All of the felt used is made from recycled fibers!  I'm pleased that this turned out to be such a warm, cheerful, whimsical and humble creation!
I've my eye on creating a moon, star, and perhaps owls or ?
Stay tuned to see what happens next!!!

And now, the news!
I've started working outside of Sprite Creations this week!  
I love the new position, the company, the people and am so grateful to have this opportunity!  What does this mean for Sprite Creations, you ask?
Sprite Creations will continue (of course!) as well as the trend in the past year of only participating in physical shows that are the best match for us!  I am using this outside employment opportunity to keep Sprite Creations the beautiful, whimsical, magical gem that it is.
Please do keep in mind my online store ( Etsy shoppe), and that we're available to throw Sprite Creations parties at homes or offices as well as virtually and using Skype!

Whimsy Wednesday! Layering on the Colour!

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!

I hope this week has been full of warmth and laughter for you-all!

I've been playing with bits of colour!

I'll show you!

Let's start with the more subtle creation first!

Title: Natural Industry

Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).

This is a subtle study of contrasts!  The backdrop is a metal leaf of antiqued-silver hue, graced above and below with a flash of vibrant green!  The Czech Glass leaf is comprised of striations of verdant greens, topped with a shiny, textured, round bead and suspended from hand-wrapped Forest Green wire. 

This gives Classically Understated a kick of colour!

The second earring creation I have for you is quite a kick of colour and I love it!

Title: Hot House Fruits

Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, aluminum,  silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).

 A delightful punch of colour and texture! These brilliant, cheerful and sassy earrings are sure to draw attention and compliments! I hand-wrapped the tangerine-shaped (and coloured) bead with a deep green wire and made sure to coil in a lively little leaf on the side!

All of this is suspended from a segment of infinity chain-maille weave. 

Luscious and unusual!

Whimsy Wednesday! A Few Tweaks...

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday... on Thursday!  There were a few storms rolling through yesterday and a bit of rain today and so my Interwebs access was down.  All is well and Internets are, again, free-flowing so here goes the Whimsy Wednesday post! YAY!

So today is all about tweaks... those little adjustments we make as we surf through Life.  Obviously, the first tweak is this later blog post, but I have more exciting and interesting tweaks ahead to share with you!

This next batch of tweaks were alterations requested by an Etsy client. She asked that the earwires of two pairs of earrings be replaced with lobster claw clasps! I find this intriguing and am pleased with how the refashioning turned out, so I thought I'd share them with you! Earring creations are Blue Light and Faerie Lanterns, respectively:

The lobster clasps on Faerie Lanterns is copper-plating, which I feel accentuates the antique brass finish of the beadcaps and adds to the overall vintage, yet timeless feel of the creation!

The final revision I have to share is a tweak-in-progress!

This is a hand-mirror that I picked up second-hand on a Walkabout!  I met a delightful woman who offered this for sale and who shared with me as I procured it that it was her Mother's!  She regaled me with memories of it sitting on the vanity and her Mother using it during her daily beauty routines.  What a treasure!  I was mulling over ways to abbreviate my show set-up for those shows that offer less space or other circumstances.  The decision was made that a hand-mirror could be quite useful as a second mirror (rather than the mirror-on-a-stand, which takes up a relatively large amount of table space) in more dimensionally-sparse booths.  That being the case, with respect to the wonderful shared stories about the mirror, I wanted to embellish the mirror and "make it mine".  And this is the result!

You can spy old watch parts, stickers, faux leaves, ink and a brass mechanical wing all sealed in with a layer of subtle colour and glittery pigment!  I am quite pleased with the back of the mirror (which is the first pouring of non-toxic resin) and am looking forward to finishing the front of it in the same manner!  The idea was to create a mirror that both embodied the whimsical spirit of Sprite Creations and is art itself, but not be so outstanding as to outshine the creations that are available for adoption!  And so it is!

Whimsy Wednesday! Keys!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I have all sorts of things about keys to show you today!
But first! I wanted to give you an update on what happened with the two pairs of earrings and bracelet (you can see one of the earring pairs here and the bracelet here!) that were donated to be part of a friend's fundraiser for Breast Cancer! The earring pairs were grouped together as one auction item and the bracelet as another. I'm happy and proud to say that the earrings sparked a bidding war! That is so awesome!
OK! Onward!
Let's start with keys that might not pop to mind right away for some of you - computer keys!
Title: Home is Where the Heart Is
Ingredients: repurposed laptop keyboard key, hand-made furnace glass heart(USA), coated copper wire, anodized aluminum, silver-plated surgical steel earwires.

I hope you see the pun!
I actually rip the keys off of a defunct laptop keyboard, drill them out with my Dremel and create from there! Eco-friendly creativity at it's best!!! Woohoo!!

Title: Can't Stop the Signal
Ingredients: repurposed laptop keyboard keys, Czech glass heart, metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires.

Yup! Those are the "signal" and "max sound" keys from a laptop keyboard! These are especially for all of you Firefly/Serenity fans out there!

And one last little bit of whimsy for today!
I started this lanyard some time ago, as a gift for a friend. She is a fellow cat-lover and when I saw the shoelaces with the most cheerful cat (with a star on it's collar!) EVER!!! I had to play with it! I wanted to make something practical and fun for her and so... Voila!

A lanyard with a keychain and clippy thing at the bottom! She has two cats, both grey and, of course, they needed to be included ! Those are the two grey fellows you see at the bottom! One has a very colourful bead at the top of his head as he seems to like being a well-dressed cat, wearing ascots and so forth in colours that offset his classic, elegantly-hued fur!

So there you have it! Keys abounding everywhere in this post!

Whimsy Wednesday! Faerie Flowers and a Disco Death Star!

Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!!! I've an eclectic mix of creations to show you today!
The first is a Faerie Flower, which is a barrette that can be used both as a Hair Creation or as a pin-like accent on a blouse, shirt or jacket! You might remember the Faerie Flowers growing into completion from this post.
Here is the first of the Faerie Flowers to be listed in my Etsy shoppe!

Title: Gifts From the Ocean
Ingredients: Czech glass, fabric flower, glitter, fray-check, coated copper wire, metal barrette.

Isn't that gorgeous??? I just *love* it!!!

The last bit of whimsy I have to show you today is all about the pendant on this particular necklace creation...
Let me show you it first!



That big ball bead that is the focal of the necklace IS the Disco Death Star! Because that's exactly what it reminds me of!! Isn't that fabulous???!!!
The gorgeous flashy-white beads wire-wrapped into individual chain links are vintage Swarovski crystals that are matte white on one side and iridescent on the other. More beads are wrapped here and there to compliment in texture and colour and this creation is finished with a matching toggle clasp. This necklace is completely reversible! It, too, is in my Etsy shoppe!

Birthday Week Fini-Old and New!

This is the last post of my Birthday week and this is good timing! I have three shows in the near future, starting with Pride next weekend, CONvergence over the July 4th weekend and ending with the MN Shadows Faire weekend after that! I'm finding inspiration from many different sources as well as next week's preparations proceeding in many different directions!
So, for your viewing pleasure, I have a few creations that are an eclectic mix of old and new styles that fit with this theme of the day!

Old Time Fynery
A perfect combination of old and new, this necklace is created from recycled chain and a charm, swarovski crystals, lampwork glass, and metal.


Modern Art
Measuring in at a versatile and impressive 43 inches, this necklace is all about vibrant color and options! Finished with two lobster claw clasps, this necklace can be clasped around itself at a desired length and worn in one, two or three loops (depending on wearer's neck size). The majority of the beads are limited edition Amy Fill handmade glass beads. Sadly, Ms. Fill has moved on from her glass bead creation, so there are no more of these luscious beads to be had! These art beads are mixed with furnace glass cane beads and small glass seed beads to create a dramatic punch of color that will coordinate with everything from jeans to an evening ensemble.

Birthday Week Continued- Adventure Bound!

I'm posting Thursday's post a bit early as I'll be heading out early and be away from the keyboard much of the day on an adventure! I'll be out and about in Southern Minnesota. I'm looking forward to the break from creating for my next show and the literal! change of scenery!

The compass rose has been a symbol of reference and adventure since mankind first drew up maps. This handsome token of adventure features a Raku-fired ceramic compass rose strung on brown leather lacing, finished with hand-finished brass ends (made with eco-friendly processes in USA), jumprings and clasps.

Birthday Week Continued- Glimpses...

At this moment, it is not raining!!! In fact, there are glimpses of the sun between the clouds!
This reminded me of glimpses we see of our lives and others. These 'snapshots' have always been doorways into different perspectives for me and I love to peek into each person's world to see what can be found!

A Glimpse in the Forest
As we walk softly through the Great Forest, we part the leaves to see our way more clearly. And suddenly, our attention is drawing to a serene face, we can just barely see in and amongst the leaves. Is it an elf? A fairy? A ? After standing transfixed for a moment (or more), we move quietly on.. so as not to disturb it's slumber, carrying home with us the gift of this rare glimpse in the forest.


Greeting the Dawn
With materials hailing from exotic lands such as Africa and Thailand, this is intended to be evoke the sense of an ancient prayer. In most aboriginal cultures, the dawn was worshipped as a (usually feminine) deity and was considered a time of new life, possibility and awakening. The image of this necklace is pan-aboriginal and the intent is of a timeless prayer for the concepts mentioned above.

Birthday Week Continued– Cocoa and Musings...
Today looks to be a day full of rain, mist and clouds and I am sipping my cup of cocoa while I type this. It may seem strange to be enjoying cocoa in June and yet it is perfect for a day such as this.
Misty-cloudy days always put me in a reflective mood and chocolate in some form is perfect for reflective moods, say I!
With that in mind, I wanted to show you a few more creations I listed in my
Etsy shop.

These earrings are “On the Path” and features a lotus flower focal accented by garnet and sterling silver.



Lotus flowers have long symbolized the path to enlightenment. They are beautiful flowers that literally grow out of muck and mud, through water and into the air and sunlight.
Legend says that garnets are thought to have protective and curative properties; curative to both body and emotional challenges.
Silver thought to help with intuitive guidance.

Bones of Time
I've had these carved wooden skulls rattling around for a while and finally inspiration struck! Somewhat in the line of the Steampunk Genre.. more like Steam Pirate...but what an interesting juxtaposition of the precision of the watch gears with the roughly-carved wood! And what would the Bones of Time look like? Why not this? After all, we only have a rough idea of our lives and what they're made of, yet the world around us has some much intricate precision to admire!

Birthday Week Continued- Explosions!

I mentioned last Friday, I've decided to take a good friend's advice and celebrate my birthday for an entire week! So, I'll be listing new creations in my Etsy shop every day of this week (until Friday)!
I took some time away from the computer this weekend to celebrate and to see the new A-Team movie! I wanted to see the good 'old-fashioned' cartoony-ness that brushes slightly by reality that the A-Team TV show was (Anyone else remember that?). Also, I wanted to see some explosions and destruction!!!
I give the A-Team movie two wings up (get it? Sprite Creations...Sprites..Fairies...Wings?) for this. I asked nothing more than to be entertained and have some continuity with the original show and it delivered with gusto! Birthday Celebration!

Today is my birthday!
I've adopted a long-ago suggestion from a good friend and decided I will celebrate my birthday all week long (starting today!). The celebration includes listing new creations in my Etsy shop! I've already started by adding a necklace, bracelet and several pairs of earrings!
