Fini Friday! Spookiness Fini!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week had been full of mystery and fun so far!
I've a finished creation (just on the cusp on Halloween!) to show you today!

You might remember mention of ideas, plots and plans a few Fridays ago...
A photo of that beginning...

And here is the Fini!
Title: All Hallows, The Old Way
Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, surgical steel earwires(hypo-allergenic).
Can you spy which beads and charms took root in the beginning and which wove their way in later?
All Hallows is one of three days of ancient Christian celebration spanning Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 (See Wikipedia for more details!).  It is a day to celebrate saints and martyrs both known and unknown.  A celebration similar to this and around this time of year spans several cultures and there is much lively debate as to the beginnings of these holidays.

I leave it up to you, Dear Reader, to decide what you like best.
As for me, I love the ancient symbols of wisdom, life, death, intuition, mystery, Faerie, stars, and so much more woven through these!

Have a most excellent weekend!
See you Monday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Scrolling Right Along!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
The goal with these posts is two-fold.
First, to infuse some whimsy into the day and our lives.
Second, to give a peek into my artist's life and studio!
Today found me working with scrolls, curves and fluid shapes...hmmm... I wonder if that is the influence of Summer?
Title: Contemplation of the Heart
Ingredients: pearls, wood and bone beads, lead-free pewter, Czech glass, copper, surgical steel earwires (silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).
The pearls are called "potato pearls" in the industry, as they are irregular in shape and colour and resemble...well... potatoes!
I loved the idea of mixing such organic shapes with the comfortably-precise heart-shaped scrolls in the wood and bone focal beads. The designs of these beads seems both elegant and approachable, as if the dark wood shape in the centre were some sort of half-forgotten symbol of an earlier time!
A last-minute edition of the silvery stars seemed fortuitous and wise.

Title: Tempting a Pisces
Ingredients:  Birch wood, Czech glass, lead-free pewter, Artistic wire, surgical steel earwires (silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).

These earrings started with the cut wooden Pisces symbol and grew into completion with charming Czech glass fish, fluid-relief accens and brightly-coloured wire!
This is a Pisces person at their best...warm, with a light touch and flashes of brilliane yet solidly 'grounded' in the rhythms of the Universe!
Note: Even those these are absolutely inspired by water and aquatic denizens, please do keep them dry!

Let me wrap up this post by wishing you a very best next few days and I'll see you on Friday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Starry-Eyed!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to this Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope the weather in your neck of the woods is just as beautiful as ours!!!
This post is all about star-filled creations!
Let me show you!
Title: Starry-Eyed
Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, surgical steel earwires(silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).
I love mixing copper and cobalt blue, as these earrings clearly demonstrate!  Both colours have an ancient vibrancy that fascinates and almost never more than when they compliment each other in a creation!
YAY!

Next up!
Title: Moonlight In the Forest
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals, Czech glass, Artistic wire, metal, surgical steel earwires(silver-plated, hypo-allergenic).
These are the more lush of the two creations and feature a crescent moon and lots of stars on a smoky background!  The Swarovski crystals are the colour Vitriol.  The dusky flashes of metallic colour are hard to capture with a camera!  The silvery leaves echo the moonlight-colour of the earwires, just as moonlight weaves it's way inexplicably through all things!
Look for these earring creations in my Etsy shoppe soon!
Onward to the upcoming events!!!

Whimsy Wednesday! Moonlight and Air Travel!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope your week has been filled with fun so far!
This post is a bit of a celebration of the full Moon currently gracing us with her brilliance as well as Steampunk and whimsy!
Let's start with a little Moon magic!
Title: A Sliver of Moon, A Twinkle of Stars.
Ingredients: Swarovski Crystal (Opal Rose), Czech glass, metal, surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
This design centered around the moon light-coloured half-moon shaped Czech glass beads.  The cobalt stars seemed a natural addition and Swarovski crystals in shades reminiscent of Rose Quartz to soften the contrast makes the perfect earring creation!  The colour Rose is also thought to be a gently healing colour, which was a nice contrast with the celestial, sometimes a bit cold, remaining colours.  Beauty, fascination and gentle grace would aptly describe these!

Moving on to the Steampunk and whimsy!
Working Title: Vintage Ride
Ingredients:  Vintage acrylic, Czech & German glass,  Artisan-made Furnace glass (USA), lead-free pewter, repurposed chain, antiqued copper wire (USA), Czech glass.
The biggest piece of whimsy, for me, comes in the form of the repurposed, vintage acrylic beads that adorn the chain.  They are in primary colours of red, blue and yellow.  They remind me of hot-air balloons!  I love the mix of textures and colours that abound in this creation! We have brilliant primary colours, darker, more mysterious and antique colours, shimmering silver and intriguing copper and brass-tones!  This necklace creation will truly match just about any outfit, especially once the proper person is found!  The pendant is created by me and you can read all about that here!

And that will wrap it up for this Whimsy Wednesday!
See you on Friday!

Whimsy Wednesday! BookMarks Abound!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
My week, so far, has been productive so far and I hope the same can be said of yours!
I've been playing with some of the loot I brought home at the end of September and have some of the first finished creations to show you!
I found the bookmark blanks and fell in love with the details stamped in raised into them! I chose one each in an antiqued brass and antiqued silver finish, which showed the stars, moon, flowers and etc. in lovely detail!
Here is what they grew into!
Title: Fairy Tale
Ingredients: Vintage German Glass, Czech glass, metal
Did you see the pun in the title? Hee!
My vision was to combine a variety of colours and textures in this creation much like a tapestry!  The golden-yellow bead is actually Vintage German glass and always reminds me of the sun!  It seemed a fitting match to a lovely strand of flower beads and a leaf dancing in the breeze with our Ballerina Fairy in the midst!  if you look closely, you might be able to see the extraordinary chain from which these are suspended!  It is an infinity symbol and two hearts set back-to-back!  Isn't that just intriguing!?!

And now!
For the second bookmark!
Title: Stars and Fish
Ingredients: Earthenwood ceramic starfish, cultured Pearl, Czech glass, metal.
I relish the bright ocean-inspired colours!  Perfect for warding off thoughts of the upcoming winter chill!
I was delighted to find the star-shaped cultured pearls and have had so much fun weaving them into various creations!  That's the star you see beside the Ocean Blue spiral bead at the top!  I treasure the whimsical addition of the bright green, petite fish swimming just above the ceramic StarFish!  Speaking of the StarFish.... that's a hand-fashioned porcelain bead from Earthenwood Studios! I adore Melanie's work and have so much fun playing with her creations as materials!
Whee!
Well there we have it!
The end of another Whimsy Wednesday!
I'll see you right back here for Fini Friday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! A Fairy, Her Prince Charming and Stars!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
This WW is a bit of a continuation of another posted a few weeks ago and a love story all in one!
Whew!

Let's start with the continuation! I first introduced you to the focal beads in this necklace in this Whimsy Wednesday post. Some of them have grown into a complete necklace creation!
Working Title: Quilted Stars
Ingredients: Polymer clay stars (prototypes hand-crafted by Serena Mira Astra), Czech glass, stretch cord, metal, lead-free pewter.
What a lovely, softly-coloured creation!

And now for the love story!
This next creation is a wedding present for friends who are planning a Fairy Wedding, complete with Fairy Wings, mushrooms and much, much more!
It will be so much fun and I'm really looking forward to it!
Working Title: A Fairy and Her Prince Charming
Ingredients: Squinkies (rubber), Bali silver, Czech glass, metal, sterling silver earwires (hypo-allergenic).
I was so pleased to find this Fairy with her darker-coloured locks as they match the brides much more closely!
YAYYYYY!!!
So, that's it for this Whimsy Wednesday!
See you on Friday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Ocean and Stars!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
This week has been filled with lots of interesting activities so far and I'm really enjoying it!  I hope the same can be said for you!
I have some watery-goodness to share with you today, so let's get started!
The first creation I have to show you has been languishing for a while... waiting for the proper time to finish it, I suppose!  Most of it was assembled, but I think it was waiting for the final ingredient of whimsy!  Here it is!
Title:  A Mermaid at Play
Ingredients:  Czech glass, Popcap pendant (non-toxic, hand-coloured resin, popcap, Czech glass, aluminum), metal, lead-free pewter.
I love the mermaid clasp and the Popcap pendant (created by yours truly, of course) and these are really what this creation was built around...but the final touch of whimsy was to hang the side-drilled fish bead so that it looks as if it's about to swim through the "hoop" that the pendant is suspended from!  Isn't that adorable?!
The second bit of whimsy for today is this bit of ribbon or trim that you see to the left!  I found this while I was out and about at Johnstock this past weekend and just love the cheerful and unusual style of it!  I've never seen anything that combines stars, hearts and snails with the ocean and I love that the stars are smiling!  I'm not yet certain what I'll use this for, but I that is often how these things go!  I'll collect materials for a bit and then they all come together in a beautiful creation!

So I'll leave you now with a little reminder of what I'm up to next week and I'll see you on Friday!

Fini Friday! A Stargazing Mood!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I have new shinies to show you! I've been needing to restock my Mood Bead collection and have been wanting to play with a new design since it came out a little while ago. Alas, but the last order found it out-of-stock! This time, though, it was in stock and mine, ALL MINE!!! ...Ahem....
So let me show you a little bit of what just arrived!

The big round beads in the center? They remind me of space ships and the design is named Star Gazer! How awesome is that?
Also in the pile of loot are mermaids, flowers, bees, flames and sun blossoms! All mood beads, isn't that fun?!

Ok! Now on to the creation!
Title: (You guessed it!) Star Gazer
Ingredients: Mood beads (with glow in the dark stars!), leather cord dyed with lead-free dye(USA), sterling silver, aluminum, metal.

Yup! A space ship among glowing stars! Really, it was only a matter of time until I created this... 'cause really...yeah.. it needed to happen!
This might even save the wearer from being sucked into a wormhole... or something like that...but don't bank your insurance policy on that!
OK! I'm a little goofy at the end of this week! But I am completely serious when I tell you that this can be found in my Etsy shoppe here!
And with that, I'm outta here for the weekend!
Have a fabulous one!
Ciao!
