Time to Believe!

I've been doing a little bit of creating before settling in for my New Years festivities and wanted to share a photo of a creation that just started growing in the last hour or so.
It is titled, "Time to Believe".

Please forgive the focus quality of the photograph, trust me that this is the best I could do to show all of the fabulous detail on these pieces!
The Unicorn pendant has the word "Believe" inscribed on the back. Both the Unicorn and Faerie are hand-made by Green Girl Studios and the ceramic Time link is hand-wrought by Earthenwood Studio .

I'm not certain if this will grow into a necklace, pendant or something else entirely. We'll find out together!

Time to Believe is a sentiment that rings true for me on this day, the Eve of the New Year. As I ponder the insights of this, I wish you-all a New Year that is chock-full of laughter, love, abundance, adventure, good fortune, and play!

Happy New Years!

Wednesday is for Whimsy!

I have two new pairs of earrings to share with you that have had me giggling all morning!
I have a busy day ahead of me and look to carry this laughter and warmth with me through all the errands and travel of the day.
I paired a recently received wonderful dog charm with a bone dangle that I've had a little while now. Because, really, what does a dog love best (besides their human) besides a good bone? I find it interesting that the bone charm is "hollow", meaning it is a stamped-metal piece rather than fully-cast and three-dimensional, just like real bones!
And just in case the pup gets bored with the bone, it is suspended below a little ball of a bead. These earrings are full of playfulness and endearing charm!

Title: Give A Dog A Bone
Ingredients: cat's eye beads, glass, lead-free pewter, metal, plated silver surgical steel earwires.

The second pair has sparked a song to roll around in my head for much of the morning!
The inspiration for these earrings are roller skating in the 80's..when the height of roller skating fashion was custom skates with pom-poms for the ladies! Of course, I had to have my own twist on that fashion, so....I had roller skate charms and when my eyes fell upon the squishy-spikey intensely-rainbowed (I'm sure those are actual words!) beads, I knew the earrings HAD to be born! And Lo! Roller skating by INXS popped into my head!
I hope you are as amused by these as I am!
Title: Rollerskating!
Ingredients: Silicone rubber beads, Czech glass, metal, plated silver surgical steel earwires.

And now, for your listening enjoyment, I've found a live version of INXS's Roller Skating!
*disclaimer: While it does seem everything can be found on YouTube and I am indebted to them to be able to share this, the original album version had a much more happily frenetic vibe to it. Still, I think you get the gist of this!*

Shinies in the Mail!

and other fun updates!
December has been a busy month, I am happy to say, and so my blog has been a bit neglected! A quick summary of what I have been up to:
The Holiday Geek Expo, which transpired the first weekend of December, went very well! YAY!
The Women's Art Festival, held last Saturday went well for being cancelled a little over half-way through due to a blizzard! I bowed out of The Artisan Faire at Eye of Horus due to the snow and cold from the blizzard and travelled safely home!
Which brings us up to the last part of this week and this weekend!
You can find me at The Healing Loft this Thursday from 2 to 9pm and Saturday will find me at the Wldflwr Holiday Boutique from 10am to 2pm. Please contact me for more details regarding this show!

Of course, if there is a Creation that has caught your attention and that must be obtained, I am always happy to oblige!! Just contact me for arrangements!

As Winter Holidays near, I hope that all is well with you and your loved ones and this Holiday Season is a joyous one for you!

I'll leave you with the photo in the top right corner of some shinies that arrived in the mail earlier this week! Some of them have already become creations, some are slated for a commission and a few are connected with ideas waiting for a few more materials to grow into life!

Hope to see you soon!

Cats!

Is this blog entry about the musical? Did I wear a cat costume for Halloween?
Well, no. But the entry is about the actual honest-to-goodness four-legged creatures we call cats. I spent much of the last weekend of October taking turns cat-sitting while friends were out of town. One of those two cats was a kitten named Nano. If that name sounds familiar, then you may recall a tiny little kitten who needed a good, warm home as our Northern Minnesota winter approached. And so she found one!! It was good to see her again!
She is healthy and has grown just a little wee bit!
In honor of Nano and all the mischievous kitties out there, I present a new pair of earrings!

Title: A Likely Story

So, About the Show....

I realized that I neglected to tell you-all about my time at BellaLuna's OctoberFaire/Full Moon Festival, which was near the end of October. I love working with Gail and Satail, co-owners of BellaLuna! The show was a smaller, intimate affair of other artists and integrative health practitioners such as masseuses, Reiki Energy workers and so forth. It was my pleasure to meet Heidi of Wldflwr Design , who was my room-mate for the show-literally! She and I were in the same room, with other artists arranged in little hallway alcoves and other rooms. Heidi is a fellow jewelry artist and a fellow imaginative soul. I'm pleased to announce that Sprite Creations will be partnering with Wldflwr Designs to throw a little Winter Holiday bash from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, Dec. 18th! This will be a fun little soiree of fabulous jewelry and sparkling company all in a gracious, comfortable setting! Mark the date on your calendar and I'll send more details about the location soon!
Here are a few photos below of a few of Heidi's necklaces with complimentary Sprite Creations earrings!

So awesome!

Besides meeting a wonderful bunch of artists, their friends and family, being immersed in the wonderful, positive energy; one of my creations that has traveled with me a while has found it's person!
The Green Fairy was four years (!) in the creating and has traveled to many shows with me. At the Octoberfaire/Full Moon Festival, she was finally united with her person, Satail. Satail was kind enough to grant permission for photos of herself and the Green Fairy.
And here they are!

I think they are both glowing with happiness, don't you?

Happy Halloween!!

I know it is a little early, I will be out and about this weekend and so won't be around the Interwebs much. I have new goodies to show you in celebration of Halloween!

I was approached by The Healing Loft and asked to donate to this cause Tick or Treat Fundraiser . Many folks in my more rural area are affected by Lyme's disease and other tick-borne diseases, so this event, the family and their story really struck a chord with me.

Here is a peek at the three pairs of earrings Sprite Creations is donating.

Devilishly Cute

Boo-tiful Flowers

Ghost Candy (No Calories!)

Though the subject matter is serious, this really looks like a fun event! Stop on out, support the family and maybe come home with a nifty pair of earrings to celebrate Halloween!

In wrapping up this post, I wanted to show you what arose from the Coffin Pendant I created a little while ago. As you might remember, I used a picture of the incomparable Bela Lugosi as the original movie character Dracula and I wanted to create something as elegant and creepy as him!

I gathered some sterling silver bats, Czech-pressed glass 'jewels', sterling silver chain with coffin-shaped links and an elegant clasp and set about creating!

(One of my favorite details is the bat hanging off the coffin-chain extender! Check it out!)

And here it is! Simply and undeniably elegant... and creepy.

Title: Undying Elegance

A suitable homage for Mr. Lugosi, don't you think?

MMMMMmmwwwwwwaaaahhahahaha!!!

*insert the sounds of a bat winging through the night*

Happy Halloween!

Legalese: MANY THANKS to RingsNThings for providing the Coffin Picture Frame Pendant, Ghost Raw Brass Charms and Glass Candy Corn, Sewn Devil Skull and Boo Beads free of charge via their Blog Partner Program!!!! I am honestly reviewing them and have not been paid for my endorsement of the above listed materials.

Soaring Home...

Hello All! Remember last week when I mentioned that I had something up my sleeve in connection to the ArtBeads Blog Partner Program ?
I have the first Creation finished and ready to show you!
Artbeads has so much bead-y goodness to choose from that I knew I would have fun playing with all the materials from them! Here is a photo of some of my loot from them!

I was intrigued by the Swarovski Crystal Yarn and decided to combine the Smoked Topaz Suede Yarn and Montana Blue Cotton Yarn with a bit of hand-dyed Art fiber in a beautiful mix of smokey Fall colors that I’d purchased some years ago. My inspiration for the color scheme were the sunsets in the Fall and those vibrant yet dusky hues of blue, russet and brown. Once I saw the Soaring Bird link in a rich brass color, a second inspiration struck and I knew I had my focal. I’ve been playing with nests lately (if you’ll remember the Dreaming Nest I created a little while ago) and the migratory cycles of birds coincided perfectly with my Fall theme! I was surprised and delighted to find that Artbeads carried Leaf Chain I loved, but left behind, at a trade show a few months back! I snapped up a length of it in a rich copper finish and found a matching Antique-copper Spiral Clasp in a delightful texture reminiscent of the wind swirling about on it’s journey elsewhere. I was ready to create!

I wove the basket and added the faceted resin-encased pearl ‘eggs” first, then hung it from the Soaring Bird link. I was happy to note that the link is both sturdy and quite detailed! I then cut and sewed the fiber strands together and folded the brass filigree tubes around the necklace ends. Next came the hanging of the Bird and I was delighted and gratified to find that the blue of the nested pearls matched the Montana Blue of the Swarovski yarn as closely as I had anticipated! Final touches included cutting and hanging the copper colored leaves from the necklace, securing the clasp and adding the pearl ‘egg’ near the clasp. I found the Swarovski Yarn easy to work with (when cutting, bear in mind that the crystals are secured with thread and thus can fall off) and provided just the exact amount of sparkle I envisioned accentuating the rich but more subtle colors in the necklace. The Leaf chain was fun to play with (danglies!) and I look forward to using it in more creations. The clasp is well-made with crisp detail and a vibrant copper finish.
And here it is!

A Walk Down Memory Lane and News!

Hello! Hello!
It's been a little bit since I've posted here, so I'm glad to see you've joined me once again!
It has been a busy Fall so far and I am just loving the WARM temperatures!! It helps motivate me to complete a few more tasks in preparation for winter and the accompanying snow!

I've been brewing up a great many new creations since we last visited and this week the theme seems to be Boo-tiful Halloween earrings! I'll show you more in a moment...
Before I do, let me job your memory... do you remember the batch of lovely charms I received in the mail? The collection that was SteamGothtastic with a Spritely twist? It was heavy on the wrenches, which, in the beginning, I wasn't quite sure what to do with. However, inspiration struck and here is one of the many designs I've used them in so far.
The title is: Drop Forged
metal wrench charm, fire opal swarovski crystals, metal, plated silver surgical steel earwires.

And now on to the Spooky Goodness! And another walk down memory lane...a little while back, I received scary-fun stuff RingsNThings Blog Partner Program and I'd a lot of fun creating with it all. But the rest of the ghosties, skulls, cats, tombstones, pumpkins and so forth sat waiting for more ideas. More inspiration came ghosting in with Halloween and the Day of the Dead looming more closely on the calendar. Here are a few pairs of earrings to for your viewing pleasure!
Graveyard Guardian
brass charms, aluminum, plated silver surgical steel earwires

Devilishly Cute
glass, metal, plated silver surgical steel earwires

I'm so excited to share this next bit of absolutely-shiny-new-up-to-the-minute-news with you-all! I've been chosen as an ArtBeads Blog Partner! I have ideas.. so many ideas!!! You'll just have to check back to see what grows into life!
Beads

Stay tuned!

Tropical Minnesota!

Well, maybe not quite, but 80 degrees in October is darn close! What a beautiful day! I found it interesting to be crunching through the leaves outside (which I tried to enjoy as much as possible!) while wearing a T-shirt and light jeans. It is marvelous!!!
I'm back home today after a busy day of appointments and The Healing Loft's inaugural Healer Sampler! It was so much fun to be surrounded by 5 other Healers and, of course, the wonderful co-owners and staff! The space is beautiful and I am looking forward to seeing it develop fully into the vision set forth by the three owners.
Also! New Sprite Creations can be found at Pappagallo and SaraCura ! Head on over and take a peek!

This also means that I have inventories to update as well as my Etsy and Artfire shops in the next little bit. Feel free to stop by and visit either shop for newly-listed shinies!

And now, in honor of the wonderful, warm weather, pictures of a new pair of earrings titled:
Walk On the Ocean:

These may be found in one of my shops, you'll just have to stop by and check!

Au Revoir !

Wrenching Life

Today has been a good day, which is a happy continuation of a good weekend! There has been the kind of busy-ness that I like best-that of mixed tasks. I was able to spend time outdoors, clearing out a little part of a storage shed close to the house. This is now where my bucket weights for the outdoor tent I take to shows live! It felt good to clear out and clean up even just a little corner of the shed, especially working in the sunshine of the day. And, of course, one of our outdoor cats was 'helping' me the whole time.... she was a diligent escort as she made certain that she was everywhere I wanted to walk during the clean-up. And, she fiercely defended me against the 2-wheeled steel monster that *clearly* was devouring each bucket weight and had me next on it's menu! (2-wheeled steel monster=2 wheeled hand cart I used to haul the buckets over to the shed)....at least until the rays of sunshine distracted her from her mission *grin*

This was a welcome break from most of my other accomplishments, which are generally done indoors. They include scheduling appointments, researching shows and all manner of communication for upcoming plots and plans!

I've noticed that a great many of my friends are in their own stage(s) of cleaning, clearing out and generally carving out a life that works better for them, in parallel with me today!
So, in honor of that combination of old and new, and the wrenching and fine-tuning of life, I present these two new creations to you!

Ancient Faiths Wake at Midnight

The charms dangling down are reproductions of the old Celtic crosses in a rich copper! I love how the copper lends vibrant color to the texture of the age-old Celtic knotwork and cross design!

Painting with Words

See the wrench, leaf, diary and rainbow-colored glass heart? I love the unusual and intriguing mix of dangly charms!

Ciao!

Chain, Chain, Chain!

I am feeling better and have many new shinies to show you! I've been experimenting with different kinds of chains and combining color with the metallic textures. I'm quite pleased with what I have to show you! Chains also remind me of machines, and specifically of motorcycles. I've been pleased with the recent beautifully warm Fall days that make riding my motorcycle such a joy! The motorcycle is new to me, so I need a lot of practice and hours of riding for us to be completely comfortable with each other. And I put some good time in with her yesterday! YAY!
Here is a showroom picture of her cousin:

And now, on to the Shinies!

To Make The Heart Soar:

Colors of the Soul:

So! Lots of fun with textures, colors and words!
You can find all of these in my Etsy shop!
And now, for the weekend! Have an awesome weekend!

Show Update-Feed Your Passion For Fashion

I am sad to announce that Sprite Creations will not be at Feed Your Passion For Fashion Art Fair this evening.
I've not recovered as much as I'd hoped from this darn cold and so I must bow out of this fabulous show.

That said... please do drop by The Shops At West End for the Art, the shops, the Fair and so much more!
It should be a fabulous event!

In the meantime:
We'll see everyone this weekend at Lake Harriet Spiritual Center and Pagan Pride!

Bits and Bobs....

Hello Everyone!
Just a little update on all sorts of things!!!
I've been dabbling a bit in all sorts of things this week! A little resin, a little drilling, a little wire-wrapping, a little glueing and it has been fun!!
I have two Steampunk tie tacks to show you in a few moments. They are part of what I've been creating as well as single post Steampunk earrings, Serenity necklaces and more!
As you can tell, I am definitely on the mend from the cold that knocked me out of the Bean Factory Artist Market on Saturday. Boo! Hiss!! I was so disappointed to miss it, but feeling well is a good priority!

Before we head on to the photos, I just want to remind folks of two shows in the next 4 days that I'll be at!
The first is Feed Your Passion for Fashion at The Shops At West End in Saint Louis Park, MN, USA. This is still scheduled from 5 to 8pm tomorrow evening. We're all watching the weather reports closely and it looks like there are some alternatives to the expected heavy rain, but I'll keep you posted if there are any changes or postponements!

The second show is Pagan Pride at beautiful Lake Harriet Spiritual Center at 44th and Upton in Minneapolis, MN, USA. This show runs both Saturday and Sunday and is indoors so will be VERY difficult to rain out!
I hope to see you at one or both of these!

And now.. those fabulous Steampunk Tie Tacks or Cravat Clasps as I've termed them!

An Update!

I've been a bit slow on the updating lately, but that's because there is so much going on!!
As I've mentioned, I've been changing out Creation Locations and have two new locations to introduce to you!
The first is for the more Northern MN folks as it is located in Mora, MN.
Bread N Honey Pantry is a lovely cafe, organic/whole foods and alternative health products market, exquisite boutique is located right on Main Street (actually Union Street) Mora. It is chalk-full of goodness and is locally-owned and operated by a single parent! If you are in the area, it is worth the visit to stop in!

The second location is BellaLuna Boutique in Minnetonka!
This beautiful boutique is full of hand-made goodness, wonderful stones, candles, books, incense, statuary, and so much more!! If you are searching for a unique gift for yourself or a loved one, this is highly recommended!

I am sad that I haven't had a chance to snap any photos of my new creations so I can proudly show them to you! My creations lately have been on the Steampunk-ish and Fae end of the the spectrum and I've had so much fun with them!
Look for wrenches, keys, beautiful glass, lovely hand-dyed fibers, one of a kind chains and more when you have a chance to visit me at one of my shows!
(hint! hint!) hee!

And now, back to the studio!

P.S. I came home last week with two bells in the shape of a baby chick and an owl! I've been carrying them around with me and a giggle every time I hear their chime through my jacket or in my bag!
PPS. WAIT!! I snapped a quick photos of those fun little bells for your viewing pleasure!
Aren't they adorable???!

Changes!

I've had so many changes in these past few weeks that I've had difficulty blogging about it all! This week, in particular, has had many hours away from the computer! I've been shuttling hither and yon, closing down Creation Locations, investigating and fostering new Creation Locations as well as lining up more shows and various projects. Whew!
Let's look at a change overview!
First up, Creation Locations!
For you folks near Deerwood, MN, USA, the Knotty Closet is now closed for the season. Look for it to reopen in May of 2011.
Cambridge, MN, USA folks! Sprite Creations is no longer at Willow Bridge Center. Please contact me if there was a Creation that caught your eye there that you MUST have! Feel free to check out the fabulous Bead Shop at the Center, Deb runs an excellent shop and it is worth the stop to see all the goodies!
New Creation Location in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metro area!!!
If you are in or near Minnetonka, MN, USA, drop in for a visit to BellaLuna Boutique LLC. Gail is co-owner of the boutique and a delightful soul! This shop is full of unique and thoughtful gifts, including Sprite Creations!

Shows!
Sprite Creations will be returning for the Fall edition of the Bean Factory Artist Market at the JS Bean Factory in Saint Paul, MN, USA! Saturday only, September 18th, from 10am to 8pm.
