Fini Friday! Fini and Reborn!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week has been fabulous so far and that you are looking forward to the weekend!! I've a two sets of creations to show you today.
One is finished and one has been reworked and reborn!
Finished creation first!
On Whimsy Wednesday, I showed you a few design ideas with these red swords. Here is the fini creation!
The sword on the right actually snapped in two as I was wrapping the wire around. It seemed important to show this natural step of the creative process as there is so much concentration on a finished, perfect art piece. The sword on the left is whole and unbroken.
 However, these are not identical!
The piece of wire used was not long enough to finish in one pass, so a second piece was cut and intertwined amongst the leaves.
Again, all part of that wild and wooly creative process! I'm not quite certain what will happen next with these creations. It may be that they will become an art pieces with a more rich story because of their imperfections and differences!
Stay tuned!

Onward to the rebirth!
Title: Spirit Moon
Ingredients: Amethyst moons, Mother-of-Pearl stars, Czech glass, lead-free pewter(USA), sterling silver.
I actually created these quite a long time ago, with very modest materials. They were the best I could do at the time and the design was awesome! However, I'd always wanted to create them with sterling silver wire, rather than base metal, so that the other exquisite materials could shine through. And now it has happened! The moons are Amethyst. Legend has it that Amethyst is a stone of spiritual intuition and connection with the Divine.
The stars are Mother-of-Pearl. Myths surrounding this this material ascribe healing and soothing properties to it as well as that of protection and connection to the Ocean. The metallic feathers are designed as spirit feathers, with four levels that represent the Four Ages of Man (by Ovid).
Silver is also associated with the Moon and Sea and nurturing intuition and soul connection.
Beautiful!
And now.... your weekend!!!
HAVE FUN and see you Monday!!!

Whimsy Wednesday! Fresh Paint!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
This marks the mid-point in many a folks' week and I hope it has been wonder-full so far!!
The title of this post comes from my description of when I have my hair freshly dyed unnatural (though it feels natural to me!) colours.
This happened again yesterday and I thought I'd share it with you-all!
Photo!
I recently changed the pattern to vertical stripes and have been having fun with my first Mohawk!  Or racing stripes...*shrugs* it is all fun!  This is what you'll see if we have the pleasure of meeting each other at one of my shows!
Don't you just love the vibrant colours?!!!!!
I DO!
Whee!!!

I've one more bit of whimsy to show you today!  It is a creation that is still growing and the whimsy is in the design idea!
These are red plastic swords that I blogged about here!  I'm absolutely inspired by both the symbology and whimsy of matching the martial and destructive aspects of swords with the growing, blossoming and nurturing aspects of leaves and flowers.  What fun!
Stay tuned to see what these grow into!
That's it for us here!
Have a fabulous week!
See you on Friday!

Magical Monday! Nitty Gritty Art!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
My weekend was filled with good times, excellent people, yummy food and much laughter!
I hope the same can be said for yours!
I've a few bits of art inspiration to show you today!
This is something called "Reverse Street Art".  Details and credits can be found here.  I find this quite interesting and novel!  This reminds me of the use of negative space much like chalkboard or blackboard art!

Let's move on to another type of nitty gritty art - Sand Sculpture!
Here is a video on the making of a sand sculpture that I found fascinating and hope you do too! Click here for the video, credits and details!
Isn't that amazing?!

So that's it for this Magical Monday!
I'll see you on Wednesday!

Fini Friday! Treasure Trove!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week has been lively and your weekend full of fun plans! I've shinies and loot to show you today!
This is a cache of treasures from a good friend.
They were originally from a dear relative of hers who was downsizing her jewelry collection. Aren't they marvelous? I love the eclectic collection of styles, shapes and colours!  I don't have any concrete ideas just yet for this menagerie, but I find it all fascinating!  The faceting on the clear glass beads winks demurely at me.  The baby blue beads have a soft allure to them.  The more rough red beads to the left and multi-coloured milifori beads to the right are a bit bohemian and organic.  The silvery chain and matte white beads are interesting in an architectural and textural way....Hmmmm..... It will be fun to create with these!! YAY!

My last batch of loot for today is these golden beauties!
The chain to the left and top is a wonderful Greek Key design with three different styles of Goddesses every so often.  Aren't they lovely?
The brooches to the right are secured together by that fabulous chain.  I love the geometric designs, swirls and, of course, the Keys!
Hmmm.. there seems to be a theme to this trove - keys!  How apt, since they are treasures already unlocked!

So that's it for this Fini Friday!
Just a quick reminder... I've an exciting event this
Sunday at 5pm (CST, USA)! I and Cheryl Patton will be teaming up for a special show Welcome To Being Human! Many times, people feel (especially in the various Healing paths) restricted in their ability to experience and express the entire range of human emotions and actions.
Often, we are offered a "barrage of rainbows" or not allowed to "go negative" during stressful times.
Where did this impossible pedestal we're on come from and who put us up here, anyway?!
Listen in while Amy and Cheryl chat about accepting our role of being human!
Do join us!
Have a fabu weekend!

Whimsy Wednesday! Doodles and Sketches!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
Today was a day of experimentation for me!
I sometimes have to carve out the time and approving mindset to just play with art. ...Doodling and sketching instead of creating finished pieces is something I sometimes have a hard time justifying to myself.
Yet it is this very exploring that helps stretch the boundaries of creativity!
So! Let me show you my medium of choice today!
I found this lovely reproduction of a turn-of-the-century Crayola Crayon tin during a recent Walkabout and had to bring it home!
I pondered what to do with it for a little while and then giggled as the idea to store my Crayola (of course!) coloured pencils in it!  So many pretty colours to use and such a beautiful feast for the eyes when they are not in use!
YAY!!!

And now...let me show you what I did with those pencils today!
These are the preliminary sketches for a series of upcoming projects.
What do you think?
I can't tell you much about that project just now except that it includes the Faeries (of course)!
I promise to update you-all with more details as soon as possible!

Before you go, I'll mention an exciting new event this

Fini Friday! A Comfortable, Colourful Life!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I'll be on Walkabout today and this weekend, so this is a quick post is comprised of vignettes of colour!
I spent a brief night camping recently and have some lovely things to show you!
This is our tent and conveyance from the outside.  The vehicle is a decommissioned Postal Jeep.
The tent is homey and comfortable!

A view from one of the windows...
The fabric colour-blocking that frames each window reminds me of stained glass!  And so I had to snap some photos to share the beauty!  The whole feel is light and airy, yet not unsubstantial.
Wonderful!

That's it for this week!
Perhaps you'll be able to tune in for my next BlogTalk Radio Interview?

Whimsy Wednesday! An Unusual Slate!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope your week has been grand so far!
Mine has been sprinkled with surprises amidst fun and learning!
I'm doing a lot of revamping and re-imagining these days.
Stay tuned to witness the changes that are blossoming on the horizon!
Now for what I've been up to lately...
Painting my car! Yup!
The same one with the coloured windows from last Whimsy Wednesday!
So!
Let's start with the tableau rasa - the blank slate!

And the first round of embellishment!

Comets to the left and right!  The silvery comet streaks through a star-filled sky, whilst the firey comet has a shooting star as a companion!
There absolutely MUST be a rainbow!!!!
All of this is still a "work in progress".
I'll add to it in the upcoming days.  My medium is spray paint, which I've never used for this application before.  The experimenting is fun as well as learning how the paint reacts and blends in various stages of drying.

That's my Whimsy Wednesday for this week!
Perhaps you'll be able to tune in for my next BlogTalk Radio Interview?

Magical Monday! Sky Above and Below!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
I hope your weekend was fabulous!
Mine was filled with much joy, laughter, sunlight and nature!
YAY!

This post follows the trend of last Monday and is about the magic around home. Let me show you what I mean!
What you see here is a feather found in our yard, swaying gently with the breezes as it was tucked in between grass blades.
Though we have been blessed with many more visits from flocks of wild turkeys since last Monday's post, this is probably a pigeon feather.  It is quite interesting, in a quiet sort of way.
The side resting closest to the ground is spotted!  This, rather than the solid grey seen above the quill spine!
Lovely!

This next photo brings me great joy and, I hope, to you as well!
The tree you see here is one of two that flank our driveway and creating a wonderful amount of shade.  They also remind me of Tolkien-esque (or Faerie) guardians as it and a second oak tower over opposite sides of that drivepath.
The perspective captured here speaks of the quintessential view of the Summer Season!  I love the Sun peaking through the darker branches and verdant green leaves!
Wheee!!!

Speaking of joy...
I'll be chatting with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom about (the often whimsical) Faerie Wisdom specific to the month of August!

Fini Friday! New Inspiration!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to this edition of Fini Friday!
I've a bit of old and new for you today!
Let's start with the old... or should I saw, resolved!
You might remember a few days back on Whimsy Wednesday that I was colouring art on the "Spritemobile"!  I didn't yet have the web url completed and now I have!
Take a look!
I am so pleased with this!!
YAY!

And now for the new!
This is a photo of some new additions to my studio and home!  The bells and incense/Genie lamp are all brass, with a handsome patina on them.  The lamp reminds me of Aladdin and his story (of course)!  I'm keeping it close to the studio, so as to inspire me in magical ways! *wink*
The bells have beautiful, mellow tones and have inspired a mixed-media art creation that I'll fill you in on in time!  It represents art I'm prepared for yet have not yet stepped into!
Whee!

The marbles you see there are at least 50 years old...with the more dull one in the centre being likely 70 years old (or more)!  I love their vibrant colours and mellow, enchanting textures!
And finally!  Those two plastic swords were acquired during a social outing a little while ago.  I brought them home because the idea of creating jewelry with them amused me so much!

I've worked with them a bit, mostly sanding down the sharp plastic edges.
They will become earrings and are slated to stay prototypes.  I'll be testing them to see how much of a stabbing hazard they are with normal wear.
Whilst I love the idea of them, safety is a HUGE priority for me!

Stay tuned for updates, as they happen!

Speaking of updates...before we cruise into this Summer weekend, I'll mention this!

My next BlogTalk Radio Interview is scheduled!
I'll be chatting with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom about (the often whimsical) Faerie Wisdom specific to the month of August!

See you next week!

Whimsy Wednesday! Breathing Colour Into Life!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!
I hope your week has been filled with fun and frolic so far!
I've a fabulous bit of whimsy to share with you today!
A while back I purchased these...
They were to help with "arting-out" our vehicles. I spent a sunny afternoon decorating the primary conveyance we use for shows and travel with spirals, suns, stars, moons, vines and all sorts of things. It was marvelous and fun!
Unbeknowst to me, these colours run and fade when exposed to rain.
And so my creations washed away with the rain the next day! Ah well. There are many, many types of art that are meant to be impermanent...Hopi sand drawings, Tibetian Buddhist sand Mandalas and so forth. So I was in good art company.
Fast forward to now.
I decided to take some wise advice and draw my beauties on the *inside* of the glass where they will stay unmarred by nature or bird or beast! And here is what grew up!

These last two photos are of the back hatch window. I'll draw my website url in between the vines when I have a moment to co-ordinate writing the letters backwards!

Where is the whimsy in all of this?  Why, the colouring of a car and all of the symbols and doodles therein, of course!
Whee!!!!

Speaking of whimsy... my next BlogTalk Radio Interview is scheduled!
I'll be chatting with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom about (the often whimsical) Faerie Wisdom specific to the month of August!

Magical Monday! Around Home...

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
This post represents a bit of a shift in what I'll be showing for Magical Mondays. I still intend to find nifty and beautiful things in and around the world to share with you. I'm shifting gears to include more magical, beautiful events that happen at home and/or on a more personal level.
This post is the start of that!
Let's begin with some visuals, eh?
We have a few farm cats around the place.
I realized that I've photos of the lady cats but none yet of our resident tomcat, Lenny. As I was coming back inside to stow the food from the evening feeding a few days ago, I noticed how stunning the sunlight was as it filtered through his handsome grey fur, creating a nimbus around him.
So I grabbed my camera and captured a few moments of this evening enchantment!
Photo #1 with a bonny column of light shining through...
Isn't that stunning?

Photo #2 Focusing on Lenny...
I hope you can see his striking, glowing green eyes!
Normally he is pretty cautious around most people-things.  Yet for these photos, he lay in the grass and looked the very picture of a majestic, domestic grey lion!
It seemed that he completely understood what was transpiring and was amused and entertained by it all!
Such a courtly, refined fellow!

Other gorgeous bits of magic...
Yesterday, I spied a huge flock of wild turkeys, right outside our window!
The closest fowl came withing 5 feet of our house! They were absolutely graceful, hunting and pecking (literally) at a stately and leisurely pace through our yard!
I'm happy to have them here as they eat all manner of bugs including ticks!
Hooray!
Today as I stepped outside and moved to and fro through our yard on errands I noticed several lovely feathers standing up like flags in and amongst the grass!
What a fabulous reminder of our gracious visitors!

Also on the list of charming events for today are dragonflies!
They've been around for a week or so now and really help with the mosquitoes! WOOHOO!!!
Where the magic comes in is that everywhere I stepped, when I was travelling quickly on errands that I "should" get done, were red dragonflies...right in my path! They hovered a little over knee height directly in my path for a few moments...as if to capture my attention and remind me of the joy in each present moment...and then flew on.
How awesome!

And speaking of joy... let me announce my next BlogTalk Radio Interview!
I'll be chatting with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom about Faerie Wisdom specific to the month of August!
It would be so much fun if you could join us!
See you Wednesday!

Fini Friday! Baling Out!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week has been fabulous and your weekend looks to be even better! The Whimsy Wednesday about a week ago was all about local colour and had a bit of baling twine introduced at the end.
I vowed to do something jewelry-like with that twine and I have!!!!
YAY! This post is all about showing you what grew into completion! MMmmmuuuahhahahahaaa! (Evil Laugh)!
So! Here is a photo of the raw (stringing) material...
Isn't that a beautiful shade of blue!
So vibrant!
The twine is fairly thick (as beading stuff goes), so large-hole beads were needed.
That narrowed down my options a bit.
I opted for a more classic colour scheme, since I wanted to show off the rather unorthodox stringing material.
And here it is!

Title: As Yet Unknown
Ingredients: Baling Twine, Acrylic, lead-free pewter, aluminum, metal. The Necklace... The Clasp....
And a view of the necklace with the clasp worn on the side...
Whilst pondering the finishing of the necklace, I knew I wanted to use an attractive clasp so that the necklace could be worn in different ways (I *love* building options into my creations!). The heart (actually TWO hearts!) clasp fit the bill perfectly! It is not only lovely, but is also a fitting tribute to the United States' Heartland, which produces most of the food for this Nation and some of the planet!
Other nifty details include an alternating pattern of silver and blue linking both ends of the clasp to the twine, echoing the overall pattern of colour.
And those acrylic beads!  Perhaps you can tell from the photos, but the sunlight transforms them into little orbs that seem to glow!  WHEEE!!!!!
So there you have it!
All sorts of fun and frolic to start off your weekend!
Before you go, let me announce my next BlogTalk Radio Interview!
I'll be chatting with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom about Faerie Wisdom specific to the month of August!
It would be so much fun if you could join us!
Have a grand weekend!
