Whimsy Wednesday & Fini Friday! Faerie Treasures!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to both Whimsy Wednesday and Fini Friday!
I'll be at the Saint Paul Art Crawl this Friday, so this post will do double-duty today!!
Let's start with the whimsical first!
I've more Faerie treasures to show you!
Faerie Dust and a Faerie Message in a Bottle...
The titles of the Faerie Dust bottles are (from left to right) Colours of Spring and Island Paradise.
What is that Faerie Message in a Bottle?
You'll have to adopt it to find out!!

Moving along to our next treasure, this is a brand-new, fully-grown Faerie Treasure bottle!
Working Title: Healing from Ages Past
There is a Faerie pebble, old watch parts, a cobalt star, golden rose and shell, a sterling silver wrench (Faerie-sized!), Rose quartz, Garnet, cut-glass "crystals", and more!

Onto the Fini Friday portion of the post!
I was on Walkabout yesterday and discovered a treasure trove of good stuff!!
Photos are below!
I absolutely adore the 'cat buddies' charm and can't wait to see what that grows into!  I already have designs in mind for the filigree chain encircling those cute kitties!  I'm excited to work with all the bits and pieces of the 'galaxy chain' (on the right) as I call it!!! So many fun colours, shapes and sizes!
The elegance and wonderful mixture of textures of the creation on the left is what drew me to it.  I don't often see iridescent beads cut or faceted in this way.
I've snapped a close-up to show you what I mean!
Isn't that just gorgeous?  I've ideas for those as well!
Tune in to see what they grow into!!

Of course I'll have the Faerie Dust, Message and Treasure bottles with me at this weekend, so stop by for a visit!
Here is when and where I'll be!

Fini Friday! Christmas in April?!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope this week has been good to you (so far)! It has and is snowing in our neck of the woods!
We received about a foot of snow yesterday and it looks like more is on the way. Why do I mention this? The snow is so beautiful! I took photos! I also started experimenting with turning Christmas ornaments (given to me a few years ago) into earrings, hence Christmas in April! Let's start with a photo of that gorgeous snow! I like how the snow swathes everything in a soft, clean, winter white!

Next up! A photo of the set of those ornaments I mentioned!
Aren't they lovely?!  I see all sorts of possibilities with them!

So! Let me show you what a few pairs of ornaments grew into!
Title: As Yet Unknown
Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, plastic ornament, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).

The idea behind both of these was to nab them and some wire and create from there!  I love the Czech glass drops and wanted to play with the spiral texture of each ornament!  The iridescent, pearl-like ornaments have a vintage feel to me and so played with that feeling, while the brilliant blue ornaments were more vibrant, modern and fun!  They have a more electric and eclectic sense of grace about them!
I'll have these up for adoption at my upcoming show, barely a week away!
What show is that, you ask?
Why the... Saint Paul Art Crawl!   I'm so pleased to be a returning Guest Artist at the Lowertown Lofts Artist Co-Op - in the 3rd Floor Atrium!

Whimsy Wednesday! Something is Fishy...

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday!!!
I hope today has been a most excellent day for you!
It has been a day of experimentation for me! Let me show you!
Title: A School
Ingredients: Czech glass, Artistic wire, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
The big, beautiful, blue fish caught my eye this morning and I knew I wanted a few smaller fish to accompany them! I grabbed some wire and decided to attempt a design that would have the smaller fishies swimming alongside the larger one!
I'm so pleased with how they grew into completion! These earrings could be perfect for either a parent with children or teacher.... or ?!

Title: An American Icon
Ingredients: polymer clay SPAM charms, anodized aluminum, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
I found these SPAM charms on Walkabout last summer and wanted to play with them! I know many who love SPAM and I wanted to play more with the iconic nature of something that is so interwoven into many folks' lives.
I'm happy that these earrings grew up into something so charming and whimsical!
I'll have the first pair of earrings up in my Etsy Shoppe by Friday! And that's a wrap for this Whimsy Wednesday!
Also in April... I'm so pleased to be a returning Guest Artist at the Lowertown Lofts Artist Co-Op during the Saint Paul Art Crawl
I'll be in the 3rd Floor Atrium Friday, April 27th; Sat. April 28th and Sun. April 29th!

Magical Monday! Rainbows, Balloons and Space Jammies!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Magical Monday and the start of many folks' work week!
I have some delightful little things to share with you today, so let's get started!
First, the Rainbows! ...in someone's hair....
I love all of the wonderful colours and, of course, a beautifully-done braid!
Credit and details are here

The next bit of magic is a 40 foot tall sculpture crafted from balloons!! Credits and details are here
Isn't that just amazing?!

And finally, the Space Jammies!
Sleeping in Space
Astronaut Chris Hadfield has created a series of educational videos about living on the International Space Station. The link above is to his video on how astronauts sleep in space.
He is the one who used the phrase "Space Jammies" and that phrase and idea amuses and delights me very, very much!
I hope it brings you joy, too!
As we wrap up this post, let's take a look at a few upcoming Sprite Creations events!
I'll be returning to BlogTalk Radio with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom! We'll be chatting about the April Messages From the Faeries!
What do the Faeries have to say about this boisterous month?
Tune in to find out!
Also in April... I'm so pleased to be a returning Guest Artist at the Lowertown Lofts Artist Co-Op during the Saint Paul Art Crawl

Fini Friday! Mystic Colours!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
We've had a bit of snow and a return to Winter this week! I hope all is well with you and yours during this week-long adventure! I've a finished creation to show today...one that has been quite a few years in the growing!
Working Title: Mystic Colours
Ingredients: Popcap Pendant (metal and turquoise Kachina charm, hand-coloured, non-toxic resin, Popcap), Sterling silver, wood, pewter, acrylic, copper wire, metal.
I was gifted the Kachina charm many years ago by someone who wanted to see it reinvented into something more. It has a cabochon of turquoise in the center of it. More information about kachinas can be found here. Kachinas are usually deities, ancestors or spirits that visit the Pueblo North Native Americas for any number of reasons. There are many types and kinds of kachinas including those who bless with rain, a good crop, prosperity and so forth. Kachinas are also represented with carved dolls and dancers who don ceremonial regalia during sacred ceremonies. More information on these aspects can be found here
I've encased this kachina in a non-toxic resin that I've hand-coloured to match it's turquoise cabochon. The bail is hand-wrapped from green Artistic (copper) wire. Some believe that copper is a conductor of the spiritual as well as electricity, heat and etc.

Many cultures, including many North Native American tribes have sacred Medicine Wheels, illustrated with four sacred colours. This creation is loosely based on that idea.
The meaning of the colours varies with each tribe and belief system, yet red is usually seen as a promise of wealth, a good life and etc.
Yellow is often seen as representing the sun and it's blessing upon both crops and people.
Blue is often thought to represent thought, spirit and good intentions.
Green almost always has some connection to growth and life.

The clasp is composed of sterling silver and enamel in the shape of a star and quietly decorated with spirals.  Spirals are seen as symbols of death and rebirth as well as life in most cultures.  Stars, too, have been valued and worshipped in most cultures across the globe!
The placing of the vessel-shaped metal beads, the inclusion of wooden beads and much of the composition of this creation was intuitive.  I placed the beads where it felt "right", drew upon colours and materials that felt like they belonged.
This is a gorgeous, mysterious, mystic creation and I'm so interested to meet it's person!
Let's take a look at a few upcoming Sprite Creations events!
I'll be returning to BlogTalk Radio with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom! We'll be chatting about the April Messages From the Faeries!

Whimsy Wednesday! FairyTale Companions!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday and a post of all things whimsical! I hope your week has been grand so far!
I've new Squinkie earring creations to show you today, so let's get started! Working Title: FairyCats!
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals(Aquamarine), Bali silver, Squinkies(rubber), metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
I was delighted to see these Fairy Cat squinkies and was excited to play with them! I love the mix of colours and even the idea that there are Fairy Cats!!! YAY!
The Swarovski crystals are in Aquamarine Blue (a fabulous colour to compliment jeans or informal clothing!), whilst the Fairy Cat's wings are more of a teal or dark Sea Green. Blues and Greens are among my favorite hues so I was happy to mix these up together!

Next Up!
Title: Must Love Cats
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals(Purple Velvet and Fuschia), Bali silver, Squinkies(rubber), metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
What are the requirements for Prince Charming in a Fairytale Life? Must love cats, of course! And Fairy Cats most especially! The Swarovski crystals in these earrings match both Prince(Purple Velvet) and FairyCat(Fuschia), as it should be!

And let's wrap this up with what could be a most excellent partnership!
Title: Fae Partners
Ingredients: Swarovski crystals(Purple Velvet), Bali silver, Squinkies(rubber), metal, silver-plated surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic).
Who would compliment each other better than a Fairy and an Elf? Our Fairy is both sweet and mischievous, whilst our Elf has a bit of paint here and there...hinting at his artistic and creative endeavors!
What have they been plotting and planning and building together? We may never know for certain, except that it is a wonder-full, magic-filled life!

So there you have it!
The conclusion of this Whimsy Wednesday!
I've a few upcoming events I'd like to announce!
I'll be returning to BlogTalk Radio with Cheryl Patton of 1Woman's Wisdom! We'll be chatting about the April Messages From the Faeries!

Magical Monday! Art in the Office, on the Street and in Your Coffee!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
Today is a bit misty and damp here, yet still warm (for Spring)!
I hope wherever you are is filled with warmth as well!!
I have bits of art in all sorts of places to show you today, so let's get started!
Art on the Street...
Credits and details regarding this are here! Van Gogh's Starry Night is one of my favorite paintings and this is an excellent, practical replication of it!
It gives me great joy to think that this vehicle brings beauty and colour everywhere it travels!
YAY!
Onward to the Art in the Office!
Details and credits are here! I absolutely adore everything about this castle! I love the flowers, the portcullis, the draw-bridge, the turrets, all of it! I am vastly amused that this is actually someone's office and wish that more offices could be this much fun!
YAY!
Let's wrap this up with Art in Your Coffee!
I find so much of this interesting...from using coffee as an artistic medium to the artist's creative cycles and journey to the impermanence (and yummy-ness!) of the art itself!
Whee!!!
Now I desire a cuppa!
Have a marvelous day!
See you on Whimsy Wednesday!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! Balloons, Bank Notes and a New Creation!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope this week has been full of warmth and joy!
As with many of the other Fini Friday posts lately, I've a finished Popcap Pendant creation (first shown to you here) to show today!
Let's start with some raw materials I gathered on Walkabout yesterday, though!
These are scrapbooking supplies that I brought home recently!  They are heavy paper stock balloons and faux English bank notes.  I'm pondering possibilities that include painting them with hand-coloured resin (and thus sealing them, making them far more durable) and earring creations!
Stay tuned to see what they grow into!

On to the finished creation!
Title: Elvan Fire
Ingredients: Popcap Pendant (Swarovski Crystal, paper, hand-coloured non-toxic resin, popcap), Earthenwood Studio gear link (ceramic, USA), lead-free pewter (USA), light bulb pendant (Zoa Art, USA), anodized aluminum, metal.
I've included a photo of the clasp as well!  The firey teardrop in the Popcap Pendant is a Swarovski crystal!  The gear link is hand-crafted by Melanie of Earthenwood Studios! I love her work!  The light bulb pendant to the left of the Popcap Pendant is from Zoa Art in South Carolina (USA)! I adore the work of this husband and wife team so much! It is sculptural, architectural and sensual all at once!  This necklace creation is Elvish, Steampunk, Dieselpunk and absolutely unique!  The pendant, link and clasp are secured with jumprings woven in a mobius or infinity chainmaille weave using golden yellow and true red colours!  There is definitely a story to this creation! I can feel it!
I'll close this by wishing you a week-end of good times, good friends and many, many smiles!
See you on Monday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday! Writing the Story of Spring & Mermaid's Treasure!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Whimsy Wednesday and posts chock-full of ...you guessed it...whimsy!
Warm temperatures are definitely heralding Spring in, here in my neck of the woods, and one of the creations I have to show is inspired by that!
Title: Writing the Story of Spring
Ingredients: Artisan glass, hand-made silk bead (USA), lead-free pewter, metal, brass and copper pen (USA).
The tender, spring-time palette begins with the lilac-hued pen, accentuated by the blue hand-wrapped silk bead inscribed with lovely French words (the language of l'amour, some say...). The focal point of this pen and design is the beautiful floral bead in silvery tones, both lush and spare at the same time, and reminiscent of the spring growth waiting to burst forth!  This is flanked by two artisan glass beads of subtle yet fiery hues and shining silver-coloured accents abound!
Also, all of the beads spin freely, making this the perfect fidget toy to use when mulling over that perfect word choice in your head! I tested this pen myself, and the weight of the silver foliage bead towards the end of the pen gives this pen a very comfortable feel while writing!
Whee!!!
Onward to the second creation of this post!  A wine bottle stopper!
Title: Mermaid's Treasure
Ingredients: Mermaid's Tale Mood bead, Rosy-Posy Mood beads, Stainless steel (and rubber).
My favorite parts of this creation are the Mood Beads (of course!).  These beads change colour as they change temperature! How fun!  The larger round bead in the center of this wine bottle stopper features a Mermaid!  I've included a photo of both her head and her tail, so you can see how she's swimming around the bead!  Isn't she gorgeous?!
She is surrounded top and bottom with two smaller mood beads in a rosy-posy pattern (which also change colour).  This colour-changing ability would be especially fun to see as this is used for it's most practical purpose- a wine bottle stopper!  Other fun things about this creation - the mermaid!  Mermaids are, of course, denizens of the deep and tend to be pack-rats (or is that pack-fish?) or hoarders of wonderous and valuable things!  What a lovely statement (and inspiration for this creation's title) of how one values their fine bottle of wine!
YAY!
Well! I think this post has gone swimmingly (couldn't resist), yet it is time to batten it down (ha!) for the day.
I'll see on Fini Friday!
Ciao!

Magical Monday! Easter Eggs, Peeps and Star Wars!

Hello Hello!
Welcome to Magical Monday!
I've collected three little vignettes to brighten your day that center around the celebration of Easter and Star Wars!
A little eclectic and perhaps eccentric, yet definitely fun!
Whee!
Let's start with Easter first!
I don't have much information about this tree, who attached those eggs and so forth, but I can tell you that it is a marvelous sight to behold!
Credit for this photo and perhaps more information are here

Peeps are awesome all year 'round, but most especially at Easter!
Here is one of the more uncommon ways to use Peeps...replicate our Solar System with them! Credits and details are here

We'll finish this with a car I'd love to drive everyday! Credits and details are here
Isn't that just delightful!? I love the 'carbon scoring' and the R2 'droid and just about everything about this!
It warms my heart to know that someone, somewhere, is driving that around and brightening a more mundane world in the process!
YAY!
So! I'll look forward to seeing you on Whimsy Wednesday! Ciao!
