Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
I hope your week has been fabu so far!!!
I have an update and news to share with you today so let's zoom into action! First, the update! You may recall that I brought home a few display cases in mid-September! I've modified and "Faeried-them-up"! Take a look!
These first two photos are of Stage 1 of Faerieing-up! This includes all manner of cleaning and new display fabric!
The Dark Wood Case:

The White Wood Cases:
Stage 2 includes paint and Faerie Dust!!!!
Dark Wood Case:
I kept it pretty subtle on this case...so you may not be able to tell any modifications from the photo...

The White Wood Cases: I think it's much easier to tell the liberal use of copper paint and Faerie Dust on these!!! Heee!!!

Contrary to what I thought on this day last week, I have one more show before Halloween! So you have one more chance to see and adopt a Sprite Creation (or two) to augment your Halloween finery!
Here is one of the Sprite Creations that might suit you or your loved one on this Holiday occasion!
Title:Graveyard Guardians
Ingredients: Brass charms, anodized aluminum, surgical steel earwires (hypo-allergenic)
We'll be at BellaWeen at BellaLuna tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 6pm (CST, USA)!!! There will be Faerie Finery, Faerie Readings, gifts, crystals, and all manner of alternative services such as Reiki Healings, Animal Communications and discounts by BellaLuna!!!

Magical Monday! Sharing Stories and Shinies!

Hello Everyone!!
Welcome to Magical Monday!!  I hope your weekend was superb!
Mine was and I have stories and shinies to share!
This past weekend saw me and Sprite Creations returning to the Bean Factory Artist Market! It was much fun as we saw old friends and made new ones! Thank you to everyone who stopped by!! We also had a chance to try out a new tent/table layout as we set up in the soaking rain on Sunday morning! I'm sharing this with you because of the serendipity(and thus magic) of the circumstance! We were happy to use the two day show as an excuse to catch up with good friends. The visit was long overdue. They had a rainbow umbrella languishing amongst other unclaimed garage sale items and asked if we had a use for such a thing. My response was, "How could I not have a use for a Rainbow Umbrella"?!!!  A photo of it is below!
Isn't it so cheerful and bright?
This wonderful addition to our lives helped us tremendously the next day as we set-up our tent and sidewalls in the pouring rain.  As many of you with tents know, it is really difficult to have a completely waterproof tent canopy and the rain started to seep in around the seams.  We erected the umbrella inside and underneath the canopy, clustered the tables, displays and creations underneath it's bright colours and hung creations and a banner from it's support spokes and structure!  YAY!! Now it's a festive feature to draw folks in on a rainy day!  Fortunately, the rain cleared out in only a few hours and the rest of the day was filled with sun!  We received many compliments on our set-up and now we are plotting more uses for our fabulous accoutrement!  Yay! for good friends and magical timing!

This next story is of the necklace pictures below, A Mermaid's Tale. You can find the story and details of it's growth here!  We were paid an absolutely delightful visit by someone who was cheerful, fun and was a delight to have in our space! As it turns out, she adopted a this very special mermaid-themed necklace!  I think there must have been some magic afoot, as she reminds me a bit of a mermaid herself!  It is such a gift to an artist when someone immediately groks an intricate piece of art that you've created and so it was with she and this creation!    YAY!!!!

So!  Now you know a little of the magic that happens at the shows, perhaps you'll join us next time you're in the area?!
That would be fun!

My next event is August 11t!
Saturday only!  10am to 6pm
 1579 Hamline Avenue North
Saint Paul, MN 55108

See you on Wednesday!
Ciao!

Whimsy Wednesday & Fini Friday! Leveling Up!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to the final post of this week!
Whee!!
This has been a jam-packed week already and it promises to continue whirling by!
This post will double as serving up both whimsy and that which is growing into completion! With that in mind, let's start off with our first photo and the title inspiration!
These are two levels that were reclaimed from being embedded in a level that had seen better days! I plan to create pendants with them. I've ideas of embellishing them with a bit of Faerie Dust and perhaps a Steampunk detail or two! Stay tuned! This second photo has a bit of a memento from the previous show and ideas for what might be found at future shows!

The beautiful green fabric with the butterflies is a skirt that I procured from a fellow artist at the Faire over the weekend! I think it will be a fabulous addition to my Faerie Finery! The two necklace creations are still growing and are meant to be simple things with a cluster of interesting stuff hanging around the Home key, which is to be the focal. Once these have grown into completion, I'll tell you the rest of the story about them!

And with that, the post ends!
Well.... almost! I'll be many places this weekend and so there are many opportunities to stop by for a visit and adopt a shiny!
First Up!
Tomorrow is the Women's Gathering Expo fundraiser from 4 to 8pm! This is to help fund The Refuge, which provides services to those who have or are being abused.
The event is jam-packed with activities and speakers in addition to a fine variety of artists and their wares! Come check us out if you're in the Forest Lake, MN (USA) area!

Friday and Saturday will see me at the Waterbury building (Room 106) in Minneapolis (MN, USA) for the Art-A-Whirl
Stop by Friday from 5 to 10pm or Saturday from Noon to 8pm for a visit!
OK! Now we're done!
Have a fabulous weekend and I hope to see you soon!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! Moving Forward!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
It has been a whirlwind of a week for me!
I'm fortunate in that this weekend offers a bit of downtime for me and I am looking forward to it!!
I'm pleased to say that my travels have involved obtaining several things that will move my studio life forward! I've been happily impressed with the Navy Blue velvet that I use for my table coverings at shows and have been looking forward to procuring alternative coverings of that same gorgeous velvet in Forest Green! It was my hope to attain that handsome green fabric in time to celebrate Spring! And so I have! This week I secured the fabric, along with many other nifties that were needsome!
Let me show you!
The background, of course, is that bonny afore-mentioned velvet! The crowned lion in gunmetal tones is a pendant I intend to embellish with resin and whatever else pops to mind during the creative process! The black velvet cord above that venerable lion is what will replace the elastic that is nearly spent on my Faerie Wings. And the bracelet below will definitely be upcycled in some manner, whether I embellish it "as-is" or disassemble it for those intriguing, round, almost filigree-like links remains to be seen!
But that was not all I was scored this week!
I am also restocked with ribbon for my tags, boxes and etc.!
Let me show you that pretty, dulcet ribbon!
There is a great deal of conventional business wisdom about branding that says that a person should pick out representative colours, logos and etc. and always stick with them. So, when I was purchasing the ribbon, I struggled with bringing home two each of the Emerald and Cobalt rolls. (These being the two primary colours of Sprite Creations.) However, I fell in love with the Sky Blue and Kiwi Green and decided that a variety of colours would suit my purposes. After all, I have rainbow-coloured letters in my banner and Faeries are often known to love all the colours of the rainbow!
Also, I've had a very specific vision in mind for my booth space since the beginning. I've wanted to create the feeling of stepping into a Faerie Glen...with a delightful concoction of creations, colours, and textures (and sound, when I have control over that!) and so the different colours of ribbon fit right into that ideal!
I'll be certain to update you here on this blog as these materials grown into a complete creation!
For now, have an excellent weekend and I'll see you on Monday!
Ciao!

Fini Friday! Cleaning and Preparations!

Hello Everyone!
Welcome to Fini Friday!
Cleaning continues to be a theme this week, as does organizing and preparing for the upcoming show season! I'm applying and hearing back from more and more shows and so traveling out and about with my creations again is becoming more real. This means that all the little tasks that I listed and intended to do during the winter holiday either need to be done or to be let go.
So! I've already finished one item and I'll show you that below...
With the plastic pencil box open...
I was having so much fun reorganizing this little drawer that I forgot to snap a "before" photo! These two photos are "after". It may not look like it at first glance, but the contents of this drawer are the results of evolution over several shows. From top to bottom, we have plastic clips (for securing table coverings and all manner of things), pins, 2 types of tape measures, tape, a plastic pencil case full of little things, extra pens, a lock, and small magnets (for securing my banners). The second photo is the pencil case open for a peek inside. There are charts for the mood beads I sell (one of the few things on my table I don't create myself but do PLAY with all the time!), a metal polishing cloth, change, glass cleaner and paper towel, safety pins, rubbing alcohol and a spare battery. Not included in the photo or drawer (yet!) is a roll of vinyl or electrical tape (tent or other repairs) and a small pad of paper (to write down ideas or suggestions from booth guests and fellow artists). As you might have guessed, while much in this drawer is used at every show; some things are rarely needed, but when they are, they are sorely needed!

I'll finish up this post with a few photos of a new display for my ring creations!
I've switched displays to something more compact, both because I needed the space and also to give me more options in arranging my display elements at each show.
Each show has it's own special requirements for set-up, even if many of them offer the same spacial dimensions and so I like to have some flexibility in my displays.
Here, let me show you!
Closed and ready to pack
up for home! Open, with back as a display...

A close-up of all those beautiful ring shinies!

So there you have it! A bit of nattering about cleaning, preparation and even show display!
Of course, if you are in the Central MN area, you can always visit me at a show and see all of this Sprite-ly Goodness in person!
You can find my current event schedule here!

Whimsy Wednesday!

Today is a little different Whimsy Wednesday!
I have photos from Art-A-Whirl this last weekend to share with you!
I'm happy to say that quite a few creations found their people and much fun was had!

The first photo is of a fellow artist and fabulous lady with awesome dreds who purchased one of my Mood Beads intending to grace her hair with it!
Here she is!

The second photo is of Meg of ScribbleNest. Meg makes wonderful, whimsical hand-felted creations and was our booth neighbor at the show!! She fell in love with Fae Forest Stream and that is the necklace creation you see flowing around her neck!

We're all so excited by this adoption!

I have more to show you this week, so check back by later!!

Shinies in the Mail!

and other fun updates!
December has been a busy month, I am happy to say, and so my blog has been a bit neglected! A quick summary of what I have been up to:
The Holiday Geek Expo, which transpired the first weekend of December, went very well! YAY!
The Women's Art Festival, held last Saturday went well for being cancelled a little over half-way through due to a blizzard! I bowed out of The Artisan Faire at Eye of Horus due to the snow and cold from the blizzard and travelled safely home!
Which brings us up to the last part of this week and this weekend!
You can find me at The Healing Loft this Thursday from 2 to 9pm and Saturday will find me at the Wldflwr Holiday Boutique from 10am to 2pm. Please contact me for more details regarding this show!

Of course, if there is a Creation that has caught your attention and that must be obtained, I am always happy to oblige!! Just contact me for arrangements!

As Winter Holidays near, I hope that all is well with you and your loved ones and this Holiday Season is a joyous one for you!

I'll leave you with the photo in the top right corner of some shinies that arrived in the mail earlier this week! Some of them have already become creations, some are slated for a commission and a few are connected with ideas waiting for a few more materials to grow into life!

Hope to see you soon!

I am sad to announce that Sprite Creations will not be at Feed Your Passion For Fashion Art Fair this evening.
I've not recovered as much as I'd hoped from this darn cold and so I must bow out of this fabulous show.

Bits and Bobs....

Hello Everyone!
Just a little update on all sorts of things!!!
I've been dabbling a bit in all sorts of things this week! A little resin, a little drilling, a little wire-wrapping, a little glueing and it has been fun!!
I have two Steampunk tie tacks to show you in a few moments. They are part of what I've been creating as well as single post Steampunk earrings, Serenity necklaces and more!
As you can tell, I am definitely on the mend from the cold that knocked me out of the Bean Factory Artist Market on Saturday. Boo! Hiss!! I was so disappointed to miss it, but feeling well is a good priority!

Before we head on to the photos, I just want to remind folks of two shows in the next 4 days that I'll be at!
The first is Feed Your Passion for Fashion at The Shops At West End in Saint Louis Park, MN, USA. This is still scheduled from 5 to 8pm tomorrow evening. We're all watching the weather reports closely and it looks like there are some alternatives to the expected heavy rain, but I'll keep you posted if there are any changes or postponements!

The second show is Pagan Pride at beautiful Lake Harriet Spiritual Center at 44th and Upton in Minneapolis, MN, USA. This show runs both Saturday and Sunday and is indoors so will be VERY difficult to rain out!
I hope to see you at one or both of these!

And now.. those fabulous Steampunk Tie Tacks or Cravat Clasps as I've termed them!

Changes!

I've had so many changes in these past few weeks that I've had difficulty blogging about it all! This week, in particular, has had many hours away from the computer! I've been shuttling hither and yon, closing down Creation Locations, investigating and fostering new Creation Locations as well as lining up more shows and various projects. Whew!
Let's look at a change overview!
First up, Creation Locations!
For you folks near Deerwood, MN, USA, the Knotty Closet is now closed for the season. Look for it to reopen in May of 2011.
Cambridge, MN, USA folks! Sprite Creations is no longer at Willow Bridge Center. Please contact me if there was a Creation that caught your eye there that you MUST have! Feel free to check out the fabulous Bead Shop at the Center, Deb runs an excellent shop and it is worth the stop to see all the goodies!
New Creation Location in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Metro area!!!
If you are in or near Minnetonka, MN, USA, drop in for a visit to BellaLuna Boutique LLC. Gail is co-owner of the boutique and a delightful soul! This shop is full of unique and thoughtful gifts, including Sprite Creations!

Shows!
Sprite Creations will be returning for the Fall edition of the Bean Factory Artist Market at the JS Bean Factory in Saint Paul, MN, USA! Saturday only, September 18th, from 10am to 8pm. The Bean Factory is an independent coffee house which serves up an inviting, comfortable atmosphere. Come on in and be surrounded by art whilst nomming on tasty treats and wonderful beverages!

Sprite Creations is proud to be part of the inaugural event Feed Your Passion For Fashion! Sponsored by The Shops at West End as part of the Taste of West End and Local Art Fair, this show is Thursday, September 23rd from 5-8pm only! The Shops at West End are located at Freeway 394 and Hwy 100 in Saint Louis Park, MN, USA.
There will be fabulous food, fun and shopping! Stop by for a visit and to see the new digs!

And in honor of the Feed Your Passion For Fashion Show, I present these earrings!
They are not, as yet, titled, and comprised of Victorian era mussel shell boot buttons (from Muscatine, Iowa!), metal vintage boot charms, chain and surgical steel earwires.

Stop on back to this blog next week for more updates!! There is so much more to tell!!!

Bits and Bobs of News!

With the latter part of last week being taken up with preparations for a Birthday Gathering, my updates have become a little disjointed!
So, let me take you back to the last full weekend of July...Saturday, the 24th to be specific! I was fortunate enough to spend some time with two of my closest friends from college and their friends and family. One of those friends moved Across the Pond to England during our college days and so visiting with her was a rare treat! We all met at the Mall of America because her now-teenage-daughter (My! How time flies!!!) wanted to shop there. It was much fun, much laughter and not nearly enough time to catch up!
There was a request for me to bring my jewelry creations to the reunion and so I discovered how to pack my creations for travel and outfit myself with a traveling adoption/sales kit (as it were). I was able to fit everything into a medium-sized purse/bag that would still be comfortable enough for 4-6 hours of shopping. Whew!!
I am pleased and honored to say that both college chums and the teenage daughter found creations that they liked and so now I have some creations that are residing happily in Englad!!! WOOT!
I am also flattered to note that one of the creations purchased was a High School Graduation present to a niece!!! AWESOME!!!!

That takes us to the weekend of July 31 and August 1st.
I was in Saint Paul at the JS Bean Factory for their Bean Factory Artist Market.
This was an excellent weekend, with a small but diverse fair or artists and, of course, excellent coffee, tea, frappes, munchies and Live Music!!!
Bonus was that we were able to get a sweet spot under the coffee shop's awning, so that we didn't have to set up our tent! YAY!
I've some photos down below!
Photos are provided by Sprite Creations and Suzanne Gabois-Thomas, a guest photographer.

Which brings me to our next show!
Sprite Creations will be making our first appearance at the Deerwood Summerfest in Deerwood, MN, USA. In a slight change from our usual shows, this festival runs Friday, August 13th from 9am to 5pm and Saturday, August 14th from 9am to 4pm. Don't look for us on Sunday, 'cause we won't be there!!! *grin*

And then! A Break! Our next show will be mid-September when we again return to the Bean Factory Artist Market the weekend of September 18th and 19th.
In the meantime, you can catch up with Sprite Creations via our website , our blog or our Etsy shop

See you soon!!!

Where in the World is Sprite Creations?

Busy weekend lined up!
I'll be closing up Santa Lucia, one of my Creation Locations in Princeton, MN. They have fabulous ice cream, so I'll be enjoying one of those as I pack up my creations for the Bean Factory Artist Market at the JS Bean Factory in Saint Paul, MN, USA this weekend!
I'll be there from 10am to 7pm Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday! We've permission to close the street on Saturday, so there will be artists everywhere!! Come on out for a visit and to sit a while with some coffee, tea or other beverages and nummy munchies and soak up the art-ness!! (Yup! That's a word! I just invented it!)
Here are some new creations and their titles to entice!
A Little Steam, A Little Punk...
Fairy Berries
Fairy Jewels: Dawn
Fairy Jewels: Dusk
Ascension
The Fire and the Chalice

In other news, one of my creations is winging it's way to La Habra, California! This commission took a little while to create but I think you'll agree it is just BEAUTIFUL!!!
Title: Sacred

I can't wait for it to arrive at it's person's doorstep!!!

Here is wishing you-all a FABULOUS, FUN Summer weekend!!!

One Thing Leads to Another...

Life is very much like a Fixx song right now!
Minneapolis Pride is over and it was a weekend of mixed experiences. We tried out early set-up this year and that went quite well! Very pleased with ourselves, we went on with our errands and evening plans. Then the storms came through and, given the reports we received, we started to worry. So, we drove back to Loring Park to check on the tent and canopy. To our relief, ours was standing strong!
Pride was a lot of fun despite the weather, which continued to be very changeable. So changeable that all the vendors were told to clear the Park early, due to severe weather!
Sunday's weather was absolutely beautiful!
And lots of fabulous people!!!
A BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE who stopped by to say HELLO!!!,give hugs, compliments and just chat for a bit. I was very proud to be a part of this Diversity Celebration.
Sadly, Sunday ended on a sour note. It appears that two necklaces and a pendant walked away during the last few hours of the show. All I have to say about that is to quote a friend and fellow artist when she mentioned a special hell for those that shoplift from Artists and Artisans. On the bright side, this led to brainstorming new booths arrangements that might actually cut our set-up and tear-down time considerably while providing more security for the creations. That would be a blessing!

So, here are some photos from the weekend!

By the way: For those of you who inquired about me quoting costs for some of the materials I've used in my creations, please contact me privately for that information. Thank you.
And! The Next BIG THING: CONVERGENCE!!!!!
I'll have some of my creations in the Art Show, as always this year, but I have NEWS!!!
For the first time, I'll be in Artist Alley this year!!
Come on down and see me Friday from 1-2pm creating Jewelry and Saturday at the same Bat Time and same Bat Place doing Faerie Tarot Readings!
I've been pondering what exactly I might do for these demonstrations and I'll be at the Alley with my Dremel, drill bits and laptop keyboard keys in hand!!
And since there really is no better way to demonstration Faerie Readings except to have one done, that's what I'm up to on Saturday.
If there is a creation you've seen as of late that you'd like to purchase at CONvergence, please contact me and I'll make certain to bring it.
And now... on with the preparations!

Feel-Good Story and the Weekend!

The Feel-Good Story:
Oscar, the amputee cat

And the weekend:
I"ll be in Loring Park, Minneapolis, MN, USA participating in Twin Cities Pride!!
I'm in the Red Section, Booth #1079! Stop on by for a visit and to see the new creations!!
Some of the creation titles include:
Midsummer's Dream
Perfect Circles
Under Locket & Key
Starry Night
and more!
Hope to see you there!

Birthday Week Fini-Old and New!

This is the last post of my Birthday week and this is good timing! I have three shows in the near future, starting with Pride next weekend, CONvergence over the July 4th weekend and ending with the MN Shadows Faire weekend after that! I'm finding inspiration from many different sources as well as next week's preparations proceeding in many different directions!
So, for your viewing pleasure, I have a few creations that are an eclectic mix of old and new styles that fit with this theme of the day!
As always, click on over to my
Etsy shop to see them in more detail!

Old Time Fynery
A perfect combination of old and new, this necklace is created from recycled chain and a charm, swarovski crystals, lampwork glass, and metal.

Modern Art
Measuring in at a versatile and impressive 43 inches, this necklace is all about vibrant color and options! Finished with two lobster claw clasps, this necklace can be clasped around itself at a desired length and worn in one, two or three loops (depending on wearer's neck size). The majority of the beads are limited edition Amy Fill handmade glass beads. Sadly, Ms. Fill has moved on from her glass bead creation, so there are no more of these luscious beads to be had! These art beads are mixed with furnace glass cane beads and small glass seed beads to create a dramatic punch of color that will coordinate with everything from jeans to an evening ensemble.

See you next week!

Shinies, Shows and News...

I have new materials!! I've pictured some of the goodies below and some of what was purchased and gathered were for creating my own materials as well as a Super Secret Project (which, of course, I can't tell you about.. yet)!
I'm excited to continue branching out into creating more of my own focals and accent beads/materials for my creations! This will give me the opportunity to match the finished creation more closely with the initial vision of it!

It is with a bit of sadness that I mention that I won't be at the Bead and Button Show for the first time in about 9 years. I will miss all the fabulous artists and vendors that have become 'show friends' to me and look forward to being there next year.
However, I still needed supplies for the upcoming slew of shows, so I took advantage of a wholesale show nearer to me and here are some of those pretties!

I'll be at Twin Cities Pride June 26th & 27th, CONvergence (in the Art Show) July 1st through the 4th and MN Shadows Faire July 10th & 11th.
Whew!!!
I do have other shows in July and August, which are listed on my website's Event Schedule , but I think this is enough for now, don't you?

One last bit of news: As some of you may have noted, I have been hanging out and giving Faerie Readings at The Edge Coffeehouse every Wednesday since March. Given the rather busy schedule I've outlined above, I'll be taking a vacation from that arrangement to concentrate my time in the studio. Of course, I'll be available by appointment for Readings, just contact me! Or visit me at the shows!
